Situated at 125 1st Avenue in Burns Lake BC, the St. John’s Heritage Church holds a rich history. Its inaugural service took place in 1919 within a modest cabin on the premises. Over the subsequent decade, the church underwent a transformation, culminating in the structure we were entrusted to rehabilitate 94 years later.
St. John’s Heritage Church
Collaborating closely with the Village of Burns Lake and Chernoff Thompson Architects North, we undertook the task of constructing an addition at the rear of the property. We meticulously revitalized the entire building envelope. Our mission was to reconstruct the church using contemporary materials, all while preserving its original aesthetic to the greatest extent achievable.
For the interior of the building, our efforts led us to prepare the church interior to a paint-ready state, priming it for the Village's finishing touches. Our endeavors created a beautiful office space that now generates rental income for the village. Moreover, the refurbished church has been transformed into a dynamic community center and event venue, enhancing the quality of life for the entire village to enjoy.

Marmot Builders worked with both the landlord and the tenants to turn a singular working space into two. This included a redesign of the HVAC system, fire alarm and fire suppression system, washrooms, demising wall, along with divided storage areas off a common loading dock. This all had to be done with minimal impact to the existing tenants operating business.

This comprehensive renovation involved expanding the single-family home with additions at
both the front and back. The project was carefully phased to allow the owners to continue
occupying parts of the home during construction. The additions featured a concrete foundation
at the rear, a single-story wood frame, and a screw-pile foundation at the main entrance,
supporting a grand new foyer. A highlight of the renovation was the custom kitchen, which
included a one-of-a-kind waterfall stone island.
Wendy's Central St. Prince George
We collaborated with the franchisee to meet all Wendy’s-specific standards and guidelines. This fast-tracked renovation involved coordinating multiple subcontractors to complete the project on a tight schedule. To min- imize disruptions, we installed temporary fire-rated partitions, allowing the kitchen and drive-thru to remain operational during the initial phases. The restaurant was only closed for two weeks of the three-month renova- tion, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum client satisfaction.
This 3,100-square-foot project included a complete remodel of the kitchen and dining areas, the addition of a manager’s office, and minor renovations and repairs throughout the interior and exterior.
